BSI was founded in March 1995 by Steven C. Adam, President. Steve served his early years in the Army with the 82nd Airborne Division and then with the US Army Special Forces. During his time in Special Operations Mr. Adam learned a great deal about ballistics and explosives. He helped develop the Light Vehicle Countermine Protective Systems and Up Armored HMMWV for Special Operation Forces.

Mr. Adam has extensive knowledge and hands on training in the field of ballistics and blast, as well as the ballistic materials used to defeat them. BSI has developed and refined numerous armoring systems and materials used in the manufacturing process for Armored Vehicles, structures and Body Armor.
